Fessenden cross-shaft installation/removal

Does anyone know how you'd put in or remove cross shafts in a Fessenden's shaft plate that screws to the front apron, for either adding more stuff or servicing/repairing existing shafts?

Nevermind - just figured it out: the holes go all the way through the back apron and are covered by that metal strip; one needs only to take out the screws that holds the strip on and the bushings will pop out.
