I am new to the whole situation on tuning I am using the old Jeff Newman e9th tuning using the old Korg which one can't get any longer since Jeff is no longer with us. I sent for a newm Korg dt-10 any comments on this tuner? The pederson is probably the way to go but I have already invested my budget. I am just a beginner in a new and fascinating world of steel guitar playing. |

A cheap and cheerful regular chromatic tuner is more than adequate for tuning a pedal steel guitar.
A tuner that is priced in inverse proportion to its nano-hertz capabilities is overkill, in my opinion.

Richard's conclusion is the same as mine after reading the recent posts on hysteresis and over-return. |

If you're not adverse to buying Chinese made products, try the little Seiko St767. I bought several in Dallas at the 2004 show for 20 bucks each, and gave them as presents for Christmas that year. I kept 2 and use them continuously. Very stable with needle presentation. Only drawback, they are not lighted. Hard to see in the dark skull orchards. Phred

I also have a ‘discontinued’ model Tuner! Mine is pretty old and is a BOSS TU–100 with both Hz. & cents Meter. It works fine, but it is actually more than I need, because; I only use it for my Basic~Pitch on each neck and then tune by ear. But, I do use it mostly to tune my Baritone~Uke and Flat~top Rhythm Guitar straight-up! Even for that I usually use the Audible~Sound feature, instead!
