When buying a volume pedal which do you buy a low impedence or a high impedence |

The norm is to use a high-impedance VP – 500Kohm or so. However, if the VP will always be preceded by an active buffer I prefer to use a low-impedance VP – 50Kohm or so. |

As Georg says, the "norm" for passive pedals is high impedance; one with a 500k pot. Also, make sure you buy one designed for pedal steel use. That way, you won't be troubled by a pedal with the wrong playing angle, or jacks in the wrong place. |

I was looking for a new pedal and wasn't sur about the impedence thing however I did get one . |
