Topic: What brand PSG has round cross shafts? |

A friend has a nameless pedal steel that has round cross shafts rather than square or hex profile. It has a modern all-pull changer, and is a very nice steel. Maple cabinet covered in black mica. He thinks that it may be a Fessenden, but I think it may be home made. No, I don't have a photo.

MSA steels of the past have Round Cross Shafts.
The MSA of that era had split Bell Cranks with a brass insert with a set screw to hold the pull rod in place. |

| The fret board markers may give a clue. MSA guitars used chess pieces, Fessenden uses steer horns. Do not believe that Jerry (Fessenden) uses(d) round cross shafts however. |

I think round cross shafts are nice for timing pulls.
A pain if you need to add a Bell-Crank, though. |

Oh- I forgot to mention that as I recall, it had a Fessy fretboard- black with white steerhorns. But it had round cross shafts, so I was a bit confused abut the maker.
This steel was in my possession for about a month- I'm considering trying to buy it.

I think a lot would depend on the age of the guitar.
Most builders started out with round cross shafts. |
