I'm shipping my Emmons out to Billy Knowles Monday or Tuesday (it's about 800 miles from me) and just want opinions on the best company to use for shipping...taking it there in person is not an option because I don't drive due to poor vision. I am packing it myself and bubble wrapping everything inside and out. I wish I had another choice besides shipping it but I don't...I think that there are only 2 choices in my area for shipping, UPS or FEDEX...just wondering which is the best of the 2...it's the '85 Emmond Legrande SKH that I have posted on here about in the last few weeks, any advice on packing that I might not have done?...also what would be a fair value for insurance to put on it, I'm thinking at least $2500...Thanks in advance...Jeff

I had to take FedEx to court to receive any compensation for damages.
Lately I've been shipping through the US post office.
They will take up to 75 pounds and so far had good luck. :D

You can insure with the post office but it’s around $2.50 per hundred dollars.
They are fairly cheap on shipping buy air An fast.

if you pack it yourself to absorb a 3 or 4 foot drop, it won't matter what carrier you use. They all have the same conveyor systems and "humans" who pick it up, unaware and may drop it.

The only item I have ever had an issue with was with the Post Office, they broke a neck on a guitar in transit to me, but in all fairness it was packaged totally wrong. It was a guitar neck waiting to break, and it did.

I have sent and received countless heavy items , Steels, guitars, amps etc... UPS and FED EX. each were packed appropriately and made the journey's, no issues.

Its the packing, not the carrier.
