Recently picked up a Fender Champ lap steel, but have no idea of the date of manufacture. The pickups, pots, etc. look original, but I'm not sure. No serial number or any other identifying markings that I can find on the guitar. The capacitor is a Type AM .05 200 from the Astron Corp. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I think that's a mid to late 50's Champ. If you have a tweed case, then it would be for sure. The Astron also makes me think so. Specific year is difficult. Some can get a rough year by the pot codes. |

Hey. Thanks much. It does have a tweed case and the seller thought it was a Fifties guitar. Mid to late Fifties narrows it down pretty well. |

Good. Yeah Fender started using brown tolex covering for cases and amps sometime in '59. |

Look at the side of the pots... I think I see date codes there. _________________ Too much junk to list... always getting more. |
