Speaker replacement for Nashville 400

I’ve resurrected my old Nashville 400 and was surprised at how good it sounded. Given that it’s way too heavy for my age I wonder what the latest replace the neo speakers that you guys have been using that are successful?

If it has the 1501-4 speaker in it, the Eminence EPS-15C was made to be a direct replacement for the 1501-4 BW speaker.

If its the original model with a 1502-4 speaker, I don't think the Eminence would do well since the 1502-4 is sold as a "Bass" speaker by Peavey.

John... I have a Nashville 400 that I did a couple mods to and couldn’t be any happier.
I first did the “Fox chip set mod” and that does help the tone separation. But then I put a Telonics speaker in it and WOW! It’s much lighter and I love the tone the speaker gives me. Great bottom but not “boomy”. Great highs but not “piercing”. And a useable midrange. I have done this same set up for a couple of my friends and they are very happy. Also, the Travis Toy “Double T 15” speaker is a great choice too. A friend of mine put one in his Peavey and it sounds great! And both the Double T and the Telonics are extremely light. Good luck.

I have split my Nashville 400. the head is in its own smaller cabinet with the reverb in the bottom and I have the TT-15 in 1 cabinet and the EPS-15C in the other.I prefer the sound of the TT-15.But best of all,my heavy loads have been greatly reduced. My back says Thankyou .

Dwayne, that’s interesting that you like the TT over the EPS. That’s sort of what I was looking for. Where did you pick up the TT?

I prefer dealing with nextgen.The EPS-15C is a great speaker, and sounds great,but the TT-15 has a distinctly different sound. I use either or depending on which steel I use.If you ever come up this way,you could drop in and give them both a workout.

Hey John. I hope you’ll give my TT-15 a shot. Others have already spoken for me, but it’s an amazing speaker, and I put a LOT of time into it’s development with Eminence. It’s a completely different speaker than the EPS series. People’s general dislike for the EPS series, especially the 12” model, is actually what prompted Eminence to initially contact me about helping them design something better. I’ve been humbled by everyone’s love for both models, and it’s nice to feel like I’ve done something to further the community, and the instrument. Cheers!

If you're fortunate to find someone who doesn't mind parting with a Peavey neo-magnet to put onto your existing 15" Black Widow, that could be your least cost option to decrease the weight...with no difference in tonal characteristics.
