hi.
i've noticed that i prefer the tone i get when the bar is at body temperature, that means when i've been playing for a while.
Might be my mind playing tricks on me, but i do prefer to play with a "warm" bar. I put the bar on my pocket some 10 mis before playing.
Does anybody else feels the same?? |

Happiness is a warm bar. It's all in the mind, but the mind is where we spend most of our time. _________________ Make sleeping dogs tell the truth!

Francisco, I think it had more to do with you being warmed up and ready to play. _________________ Mark |

I've never noticed any difference with the bar but I can tell the difference when I'm wearing a red or blue shirt.

I don't know about bar temp and tone, but if I'm ever playing an outdoor gig in cool weather, I put my bar in a cup of hot water before and between sets. Happy hands surely make better tone. _________________ David K |

It has been said that Buddy Emmons would use a hair dryer to warm up his guitar under adverse conditions.

I have to believe that folks who make lap steel stands & stuff for pedal steel, will come out with a "tone bar warmer" ...or "tone bar heater" now !! |

In 2017 & again in 2018 we (Maile Swing Band - look it up on YouTube) had a 2 day outdoor gig in late April at Nalle winery up in Dry Creek Valley, here in Sonoma County . 10 am to 4 pm, Sat & Sun. I discovered how uncomfortable the temperature could be in 2017. In 2018 I brought along a little (inconspicuous?) heating pad for my lap & to maintain the guitar temperature when I was on breaks. We played with 3 good friends in another trio. So all 6 played for 45 minutes, then 1 trio dropped out while the other played on for 15 minutes. Everyone was on break for about 10 minutes. Then the 1st trio came back for 15 minutes before the 2nd trio rejoined the band again. We rolled with that all day. Worked out great. I always keep bar & picks in my pocket performing. Unfortunately, the winery's sold so much wine this year they're not going to participate in "Dry Creek Valley Passport Weekend" this year. Maybe next year? |
