Fender triple professional string gauge help needed.

Post by Barry Gaskell »

Hi guys
Just bought a 1952 Fender triple pro, all original......gorgeous...!
Looking to put an A6 on top, C6 in middle and trying bOb’s 9th on the bottom. Have been using a double string master 24 1/2” scale. The pro’ has a 22 1/2 scale and need advice on string gauges for the above tunings to minimise cost and wastage, having to totally restring (24 strings). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys.
P.s....looking for a case for the triple pro’.

Barry

I would suggest an email to Basil Henriques.

He is a forum member you could contact using the search feature.

He plays multi neck Fenders and is located in the UK so may have recommendations about vendors as well.

Basil has been very helpfull to me in the past.

Regards

Mike

John Ely's website has a great section on string gauges:

The Ernie Ball gauge vs scale chart posted in this thread is also very useful:

Yes, I use John Ely's chart and for my 22.5" guitars use the heaviest option in each case.

I get all my steel strings here in the UK from Newtone strings. Great strings and they'll make you sets in whatever gauges you want.
