Hi all
I have just joined the forum and Im trying to get to grips with a ten string Emmons that I have borrowed from a mate and am wondering if a thumb and one finger pick might be easier to start with? Also would like to know the tunings of Bobbie Seymours three neck Bigsby that features on the video clip

This the "Instruments For Sale" section.

Your question is about the pedal steel guitar. I suggest you use the "Pedal Steel Guitar" section.

Possibly. But then, you might just have to face the hurdle of adding a 2nd finger pick at a later time. I'd suggest you try at least two finger picks to start with.

I agree. Start with 3 picks. Or even 4.

Most guys play with 3 picks. And most of them use the thumb and middle finger most of the time. I try to use all 3 fingers are lot.

As for the tuning, I's say stick with the normal E9 tuning. There's more instructional material available for it and it's proven itself over years of practice. Lots of steel players play the comercial E9 tuning for a reason.
