It is indeed Randy Reinhard. He was a monster player.

Is Randy no longer with us?? I'm sorry if that's the case. He was indeed one of the very best. Hear his rhythmic phrasing on the tune in the link.

Listen to what Randy did here on this track from Bobby Flores...I have NEVER heard anyone play these double time single notes that fast and that clean....

Double time notes, WOW. I have done that for a couple seconds but then I wind up backing off my volume pedal because I find myself out of time!!!! That is slick!!!!

Mr. Davis at about 21 seconds in the video you posted, Is one of the most unique set of licks I have ever heard. And it fits right in the song.
One fast set of fingers, RIP Mr. Reinhard

Ricky did he use tube amps?

I saw him at the St Louis convention in the late 70's early 80's with Barbara Fairchild and guest Buddy Emmons. He sounded just like Buddy I was blown away, licks and tone.

Buddy was not liking the sound he was getting so jumped on Randy's guitar everytime he took a break, funny.

Agreed.

How do you feel about his tone there?

The fiddle is up front where the steel sounds like it is in a cavern in another state. That being said it seems to me that a lot of these recordings from Bobby Flores etc with Dicky and Randy are really old school, thin and tons of reverb. Works for that old Texas dance hall sound.

It's Fitting....ha.(it sounds just like the timber of the fast notes one would pick that fast on the C6 strings)

One of the best steel players ever! Great tone (P/P wrap around 64?), super clean playing and the most beautiful licks. All his work on the Bobby Flores albums are superb.

Larry, Randy played over a Fender Twin with a 15 in. JBL at Tommy Detamores studio. He liked the sound of that old amp I sold to Tommy.
