C6 and pedal 4?

Is this pedal mainly for jazz stuff, or can you use it for blues chords/licks? I don't care for jazz but I do like blues. I never use this pedal and I don't want to just let it sit idle. I would appreciate any examples for chords or licks ya'll can give me for pedal 4.

I sometimes think of it as the "Chuck Berry pedal". With P5 down, play strings 10 & 8 twice, then P4+P5, same two strings twice, over and over. It's in D at the nut - 7th fret for "Johnny B. Goode" in A. It's a groove.

The best example I know of is on the song "Crazy" at http://www.pedalsteelguitar.net
It's a downloadable mp3 file from Lois Lane's new cd. Lois is Dick's wife and is a great singer. Dick does an outstanding C6th backup steel example of pedal 4.

Dick Meis is a master at using pedal 4.

next to pedal 5 and put pedal 4 on a hang down knee (LKL) or vertical- works great- also the m7 knee can be used in many other pedal combinations

I don't use the 4th as much as the other pedals so I decided to change that pedal to raising the 4 and 8 strings to Bb. It only lasted a little while and I put the standard 4th pedal change (raising to B) back on. Although I don't use the change much it was missed.

I use the 4th pedal for cords and speed picking. Example speed picking at the 5th fret you will have a IONIAN scale as follows. Use strings 5,4.3,2,1. Start with string 5 forward roll. 5,4,4+pedal,3,1,2, then roll back down. Next up 3 frets do the samething but when you roll back down end by using the 6th string as this is the "C" root cord. You just played a DORIAN scale. Next go to the 3rd fret use strings 4,3,2,1,. Start with string 4 forward roll. 4,4+pedal,3,1,2. back down end on 4th as this is the root cord"C". You can find other scale by using the 4th pedal. I have a "D" on top.

on my ShoBud i had A to Bb on P4 instead of A to B
it makes a dominant 7 chord
add P6 & you get an 11th chord or a minor 7
Terry, since you like Blues you'll probably find that A to Bb change pertinent

on my Zum i have that change ( A to Bb ) on RKR & on both A strings

P4 ended up bein' Pedal C on E9 since i added the Franklin pedal in the 0 position

When you go to Dick's web site, the "Crazy" mp3 is towards the bottom of the main page in the section entitled "The Best of Lois Lane" CD. Dick does a lot of fast pedal action with pedal 4 on the C6th neck. He also has a G first string.
