Free dobro album from OrvilleJ

Hey Forumbuddies- Do you like FREE stuff? Well, I have a bunch of tracks I’ve created over the years to use in my teaching of the dobro. A lot of the classes I’ve taught at places like ResoSummit in Nashville and the Blues Workshop in Port Townsend WA involve showing how to use the dobro in a jazz or blues context rather than the bluegrass and country genres to which it’s usually confined. I’ve got a bunch of tunes I’ve made to demonstrate that, mostly jazz and blues standards. I was listening back to some of them and realized, immodestly perhaps, that I played some pretty cool stuff. I would never put it out as an album because it’s all dobro all the time and who would want to listen to that but other dobro players and dobro nerds, right? So, for all you players, nerds, and anyone else that might dig it, I’m giving it away. It’s all at this BandCamp link. Hope you enjoy it and, if you do, shoot me an email at
orville@orvillejohnson.com and let me know. Thanks…oj

Thanks for your very generous offer, Orville. I've learned so much from the classes I've taken from you at Resosummit, so it's nice to have these as souvenirs of those classes.

Thanks everyone and, if you haven't grabbed the album yet, please feel FREE to do so. Brad, have fun at ResoSummit (I'm assuming you're going) and say hi to folks there for me. Mike, glad you picked out Lonely Woman. I love that song and the track is from a rehearsal with my friend and awesome guitarist John Miller. We played the tune at a memorial event around the time Ornette passed. And thanks again Howard, John, Bill, and Jim.

I play some Gypsy Jazz guitar and thought I'd give a quick listen to Daphne, expecting...well, I wasn't sure WHAT to expect.
Knocked me off my feet. I mean, I got hit with a phaser on "stun".
I'm buying the whole thing. Not quite sure how the "name your price" thing works but I'll figure it out in the morning when I have time. And when I'm back to normal after hearing ONE song.
Yikes.

Hey Jim- When the "name your price" screen comes up (after you click on Buy Digital Album) feel free to enter a zero and you can download the album for free. Some folks have kindly dropped a little coin on me but I'm offering it up for free so it's up to you. I just want folks to have a chance to hear some stuff I made for classes I've taught that have only been heard a few times in a classroom. hope you dig it.

FWIW, "Coconutty" never fails to put a smile on my face. What a fun song!

Orville, I'm really enjoying listening to the cuts! Really well played ... there's a sense of relaxation in the your work I really admire and the improvs show musicality and that all too rare quality: humor. Thanks, man!

Hey Orville, I hit play, and was not even 30 seconds into it before I hit "name your price". If the rest is anything like the first track, it's the best deal around! But hey, here's an idea! Separate out the backing tracks and now you can sell those as we all want to learn your moves!
Thanks!
