Nashville 400 recap?

Post by David Langdon »

I have an old silver corner NV 400. I did the LeMay mod to it years ago and I'm giving it a refurb with a Neo speaker. Because I'm in the UK I've had to go for a Celestion BN15 type as it's hard to source a Sica without import costs etc. As I have it all apart I was wondering if I should recap the power supply?
Everything seems to work OK, but would there be any noticeable benefits? I may have to use 4700uf 63 volt instead of the 55 volt ones, and should I also replace the 1000uf ones too?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Dave.

Go for it, do 'em all. The higher voltage caps are fine, and you might even notice a little extra "punch", since the originals are probably getting tired by now.

David, I got my Sica from Hot Rox in Nottingham, had to pay an extra £20 for delivery as I did not want to wait on the regular order from Sica to Hot Rox, but still got it at a very good price. Excellent speakers.
MSA Millenium SD10, GK MB200, Sica 12inch cab, Joyo American Sound Pedal/ Jay Ganz Straight Ahead amp, Telonics 15inch in Peavey cab, Digitech RP150, Peterson tuner.Hilton volume pedal.Scott Dixon seat and guitar flight case.

Thanks for the info, Malcolm. I wanted the 15 inch, which is more difficult to get as it's now discontinued. HOTROX is just up the road from me too! I pulled the trigger on a celestion at a great price.
