Hey Andy, yeah Phantom Frank is quite the rock star in the Surf Music world these days. He started with a band called the Treble Spankers in the mid 90's and was signed to a major label, but unfortunately like almost all Surf bands that get signed to a major, nothing happened. Their major hit back when I was just getting into surf:

Here's an interesting cover song that never got released:

Most recently he has his new band the Phantom Four, and the drummer Niels, who has been his drummer since the Spankers, now runs the North Sea Surf Radio out of Holland. NSSR is a major force in the current internation Surf Music Scene and hosts a festival each year.

I had never seen him play any Steel so thanks for sharing! I think a lot of the Surf bands try to add some exotica to their sets so they can cross over into the Tiki-Exotica market and get some extra shows while they're touiring the US. Taboo is a a great choice for this. |

Surf-nova country and eastern! This guy is the real deal. Thanks.
Is that a finger slide he's playing with? |

Sure thing Andy! Also forgot to add a current song from them. I recently saw them in 2016 when they played at the Surf Guitar 101 Convention in CA. Their latest album Frank has gone down more of a latin direction especially with the drums. It almost has a Raggaeton feel. Enjoy!

I haven’t checked out the other links yet after Andy’s initial post, and Phantom Frank has some good stuff going on there. But unless I’m mistaken, it sounds like he has a click track? It’s pretty annoying. “Hey Phantom, keep the click track to yourself!†_________________ Mark |

Not a click track per se, but he is playing with tracks. Sounds like bass, vibes, guitar? and drums with the snare rim mixed way up front. |
