Adopting acoustic a lap steel to electric lap steel

I'm sure you've all seen this:

My second guitar will be a 25.5" scale, C6 tuning. I want an "acoustic" sound.

Dudley uses a EMG bass pickup in the "neck" position. Have any of you tried this? Any thoughts?

i've not heard of him and that sounds great. however, i would believe that it would be hard to obtain an acoustic sound with a pickup, especially with a bass pickup. but, worth a try.
