I understand that the first E9 pedal (which quickly became the A & B pedals) was developed on an 8 string instrument. I also understand that the C pedal did not arrive until quite a bit later. Was the instrument still commonly an 8 string instrument when the C pedal arrived?

Hey Bryan, 10-4 on the steel being an 8 string instrument when the C pedal came into being. I'm probably wrong but the first person I remember hearing using it was Ralph Mooney. It would have been his 2nd string E and he only pulled it to F# with that pedal and didn't pull the B to C# along with it!....JH in Va.

Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!!
