I have a telonics twelve string pu, I tried to adjust the the hight of the screws but they are very tight and won't adjust, I'm afraid to put too much pressure on them for fear of doing damage,
any ideas?

They are meant to be tight, but a few were too tight, so just call, or email Telonics, and they will be glad to help you John.

An observation on Telonics PUs.
I fought with mine and could not get the balance adjusted to my satisfaction at home... 3rd string pole ???
When I took it out and played it live it sounded fine.
The poles are stiff to turn.

The PU is good after just going out and playing it a little.
That is my observation. I really didn't like it testing at home but now use it okay.

John its usually just the initial turn you make that tends to be overly stiff -- once it budges then it tends to be a little easier to adjust - they are still firm though to avoid any unwanted movement once you have hit your sweet spot !
Telonics also have a small hex wrench with a "T" handle on it which gives you better leverage and makes it easier to adjust them ...talk to Sophie Im sure they could send you one

I wrote to Telonics, they told me that it wasn't normal for the screws to be tight. as I didn't buy the pickup from would have to remove the pickup from the steel and take a series of photos and send them to Telonics.
the pickup was on the steel when I bought it and I just put new strings on it, the guitar is a Schild keyless , the pickup works great and sounds amazing, but I would like to have the option to adjust it, thanks

Another observation.
I love my True Tone pickup but I was having a problem with my telonics amp being a little edgy sounding.
So I put the Telonics PU in my MSA as they pop in and out and lo and behold the amp did sound much better.
After a few weeks I decided the take out my old Fender twin to blow the cobwebs out of it. I noticed the sound was not to my liking.
Switched back to the true tune and was okay again.
Different amps like different pickups.

“Different amps like different pickups”
Well said.
I think there is a whole generation of pickups that evolved in an era of solid state amps.
Those pickups may sound great with SS amps and not necessarily with a tube amp like a TR.
Or vise versa.
I never like the 705 with my tube amps. I think they sound great with solid state amps.
That’s just one example.
YMMV. Guitars, techniques and taste are all subjective.

I have had a couple of Telonics pickups and they were quite stiff to move. One of them (brand new) I could not move at all and was very concerned that I may damage it.I spoke to Mark Dunn who is the UK/EU rep.Mark is very helpful indeed and He said they just need the first movement to break the tightness. I put a small extension on the allen wrench, giving Me greater torque and there was a fairly loud crack and the pole piece moved.it still remained tight although can now be moved with the wrench.
Good luck.
