I heard stories of 'Gentleman jim' throwing jimmy's steel down a staircase, because the producer insisted on steel guitar and, i suppose legend has it, Jim hated 'steel guitar' i heard he was a real mean fisty type egotistical!
Now you have never met any singers like that have you??

I read any article by Mr.Emmons one time[this is his words not mine.] He said he and Jimmy toured with Mr. Reeves a while. He treated both very bad. They would switch back and forth because neither could put up with him an extended lenght of time. When Mr. Reeves died Mr. Emmons said he was an SOB while he was alive and just because he's dead does'nt change anything. YOU BETCHA,DYK?BC.

It wasn't Jimmy Day's guitar, it was Bobby Garrett's.
It was a Stringmaster that "Gentleman Jim" kicked down the stairs and the way I understand it from Bobby's son, Rick, it was Bobby's turn to kick Reeves down the stairs.
Reeves fired him and left him stranded in Las Vegas with 8 dollars in his pocket.
You can find out all this info on the old Forum site. :D

Henry,
I know he used to be.
I understand he has the guitar in his possession.

Rick's most recent post was back in 2011.

Interesting (humorous?) comments in this discussion.

(Ray and Bobbe)

Ray is referring to the Beechcraft Bonanza Jim Reeves was in. Ray was a pilot back in the day.

Bobbe was a pilot and owned several aircraft over the years.

I think this guitar was in the Jim Reeves museum at one point. I believe that closed though.

According to Rick, they asked him to put it in the Jim Reeves museum and he said it would be a cold day in hell before he'd ever do that! :whoa:

I never had a chance to visit the museum. For some reason I guess I just thought it had been there once.
