A gentleman I recently met has a D10 Emmons (10 + 5, I believe), and he'd like some help determining just what he has (he doesn't play steel; this belonged to his brother who did, but passed away in 2010).
The serial number appears to be 2319D.
He says it's a push-pull, but doesn't know the year. This is the first photo I got; there's dent on the front end plate, and this probably sat untouched since 2010, but the guy would like to get a handle on this as well as a value, as he may choose to sell it (no offers yet, please).
Thanks, all.

It's a Push Pull, and 2319D would put in in about 1975, pretty sure.
Does he have all the legs, rods nd pedal bar?
Cool guitar.
These mid 1970's Lacquer D-10s usually go for (if complete, and in good working order, depending on the color and condition) $3000-$4000. |

Yes, looks like a nice lacquer 75 model push pull as Mike stated and true, if all parts are there and in good shape it’s a 3000 plus guitar. I love them. _________________ Henry Matthews

Thanks, Mike and Henry.
I think $3K might still be more than the guy thought it might be worth.
I plan to see it close up and try it out soon.
If it's been stored all these years, it will likely need a tune-up, but ultimately the guy would like it go to a good home, as he feels his brother would've wanted as well. _________________ 1979 MSA U12 Pedal Steel

Hi Dan, I have a ‘74 D-10 that used to be the same green lacquer color your friend’s appears to be. After many years of gigging the finish was really the worse for wear and as part of a complete restoration by Tommy Cass, I refinished the cabinet. To my surprise
I found that the original finish that remained under the necks was a deep ocean blue. I can only surmise that the blue finish was affected by daylight to turn blue since the blue finish was found even under the name plate - I couldn’t imagine anyone refinishing the guitar and not removing the plate. So, if you read this in time, you might look under the plate to see if this guitar has gone through the same finish transformation - and I would be very interested to know. I have seen a couple of Emmons D-10s here on the forum of a similar age that appear to have retained the ocean blue finish. I don’t think this phenomenon affects the value as it appears that the finish on your friend’s guitar is in good shape.

The guy has a buyer for the steel as-is, Pete, so I don't think he'd want to mess with the plate.
Would be fascinating to see that phenomenon, though. _________________ 1979 MSA U12 Pedal Steel
