Ok ya'll ready for this????
The most Precise Sho-bud fretboard ever made was the Plastic 3-d original(dust catcher)for the 24" scale Sho-bud, and it featured 26 frets. Well I hounded and hounded John Coop about the sho-bud replica "Flat" fretboard that can be that precise in fret markings; as it still just hasn't been done to perfection.
Well NOW is the Time.
John Coop now produces the "PERFECT" replica Sho-bud fretboard either in white background or black background and they are a exact replica of the plastic 26 fret fretboard; but a flat board on a thin stainless steel(so not to rust like the tin did...ha)
BAM!!!
And in the picture below; you will see that they are perfect; as the top fretboard is the old plastic dust catcher; and the two boards under it ARE the new replica flat black and white boards and you will see they line up PERFECTLY.
How about 25 bucks per board??? Don't get any better than that.
So rip off what ever you have; and get these on IMMEDIATELY and you will play in tune more than you ever have EVER...ha
Also John is producing the "Madison made" replica shobud fretboards in white or black background which have wider fret lines and have 24 frets; for the 10 or 12 string Sho-bud.

| Boys..I spent countless hours with the guy that did the graphics files for these to make sure the characters and the line spacings were correct. I may be old, but my "Toolmaker Eyes" are still sharp as a razor!! Shiping in the lower 48 states is $4.50 - $5.00 I will have the 12 string / 24 fret fretboards done soon as he gets done with the files for the LDG decals. Coop |

| Beautiful, the red markers on the Pro III I recently acquired are faded. I've been looking around for red finger-nail polish to spruce them up. But now, I think I want a set of Coop's white fretboards, to contrast with the dark walnut stain of my guitar. John B. Of course I didn't tell you about them; because they were still in the making state; and they just now became a reality.

The diamonds are Correct and are a little longer point up and down the fretboard as they should be....maybe your eyes or computer screen is scrunchin' them or maybe they got scrunched on resizing to fit here; but folks these are EXACT and PERFECT...and I'm not saying that they are close> they are Exact> can I be more clear in my speach/typing???
Fred; I can also answer your next question of when your super pro will be ready...ha..
Fred; John Coop is a one man Genious and folks are starting to realize that and so he is flooded with work> do I have to tell you the amount of hours it takes to make just one single finger; let along the bazzillion parts he now has and has to make and build onto a steel...??? There is just not enough time in the day for what all he is doing my friend/friends. Do you know why it take over a year to get a Zum or Fulawka??? it is because those are done by hand to perfection with ever specific detail of every part; by one man that knows a perfect product can only be done by himself(if you want the job done right; do it yourself mentality) and that's why the Fulawka and Zum and every part and job John Coop does is PERFECT> and it takes patience to hire a guy like that to do a job(s) and when they are discovered of being that great; which they ARE; then you have folks lining up to get what they are so gifted in getting> and so it takes time.

I always liked the Sho-Bud fretboards, but I always thought the card symbols looked like they were upside down. Like the "bottom" of the symbol should be toward the pickup...

and to John...thanks so much for your passion.
the copy of the Sho-Bud parts catalog is a treat.
my old Pro 1 has the dust catcher style and a tiny crack in the corner. the wood case is aged and cigarette burned (not by me). I kind of like the wear. but these new boards are tempting.

That pretty lookin cabinet with Johns fretboards is thanks to Ray Walkers beautiful refinishing work. Thanks so much for dealing with all the problems involved in getting it right Ray. John Coop is redoing ALL the guts with his superb new parts. It will probably be 8 and 6 when completed. When this is done it will be my 73 pro 2 that goes in. Lots of slop in that tone monster. Yes I am a sho bud guy. I am new to the forum but I have been checking it out for awhile. Good to be here. Which fretboards do you think would look best on it,white or black? I havent been able to decide. Give me your opinion. Thanks

Mark is that YOUR blonde bud that Ricky posted above!!??? I'm not kidding, mine looks nearly identical! John's about got mine wrapped up.
You could try white on the E9th, and black on the C6th. If you like it, MAYBE I'll try it!! HA! |
