Hello, my name is Elmer Fuddlepuck and I just hacked into Dan Behringer’s account on the forum because he really needs to win this. Yeah, I know this ain’t gonna work! I really just wanted to extend another “Thank You” to Mickey Adams for this, and all the things he does in the steel guitar community.
Thanks Mickey!

I recommend Mr. Floyd Arbuckle from Cleveland, MS. This man has been my mentor and guitar hero for EVER... He has been a friend of my family for many years, and has played with us in church for as far back as I can remember. He is an honest, hard working man, and anybody that knows him, loves him. He is in his 70's, but he is still a BEAST of a picker, both lead guitar and steel guitar!

I'd like to nominate my friend Rob Bourassa. He is a guitar teacher and makes his living teaching both in his home studio and online. He gives of his time to those in need as well and offers many free lessons on his you tube site. He is a talented guy who would pick it up fast. Here is a video of his lap steel playing with one loaned to him for a bit.

Dear Mr. Adams

I am honored to nominate member and military veteran Nicholas Ackron.

He is originally from Alabama where he learned to play lap steel from watching his great uncle play and then he started playing lap steel in church. He enlisted in the US Army in January 2008 as a Military Police and went through training in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. Upon completion he was stationed in Ft. Drum, NY, where he then served in Iraq and Kuwait until he was injured in a fire fight. While doing his tour overseas, he received several medals. After his return to the states, he was then transferred to Ft. Monroe, VA to serve as a Garrison Police until the base was closed. He ended his Military career as a dispatcher on the Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Newport News, VA.

He currently lives in Daytona Beach, Florida with his wife and children. He continues to help young musicians learn how to play drums and lap steel guitar at least twice a week. He is currently playing only lap steels, but his dream is to play pedal steel which is beyond his economic means. He hopes to play pedal steel and share this wonderful instrument with the younger members.

I am honored to know him and can say that he is a respectful and grateful young man who has proudly served his Country and who never loses hope or a postive attitude despite adversity.

Respectfully submitted, Bob Williams

I too, along with Tim and Doug, nominate John Wilson from Ventura, California. He lost his Zum in a fire and seems like an awesome person.

Hey Mickey give that thing to Bode Barker. He has a 9 year old son that's just dying to learn steel. He's already talented on keyboard and drums. Bode will have him playing it within a week. Besides that he's in Llano and he can come pick it up. If he cant' I can. Don.

I wouldn’t want Mickey’s job of having to decide among so many deserving candidates. But I’m going with the John Wilson of Ventura nomination also.

John Wilson.
Any man who can have that light hearted attitude, after losing his home and the love of his life ( no, i’m Not talking about his wife ), has my vote.
Many steel guitar players have lost a wife, and lived, BUT YOUR STEEL GUITAR ?
Let that one sink in. Haha

More for John?

Post by Mark Helm »

Well, that's at least 3 for John. Folks?

His positive attitude has inspired me to better appreciate what I have and ALSO to remember that it's not about stuff (even certain guitars we love); rather, it's about the music, and the people who love and play it. It's about ALL of you guys (and gals).

John Wilson Indeed

Post by Andy DePaule »

Hi Micky,
For my 2¢ worth John Wilson would be a great person to get this having lost his everything to the California fires.... That has to be tough.

I'd even thought about bringing him my Star Guitar SD-10 4&5 to use when I return to the USA in July so he could use it until he gets another for himself.
I have another new PSG that I use so could get along without the Star for quite a while.

Anyway, I'm sure you'll do something that seems right to you and the person donating the steel. Really a right thing to do.
Was nice to meet you at the Texas show last March.
Best wishes,
Andy
