What are some of the tunes that were/are part of your band's repertoire that you personally can't stand to play? Tunes that you despised from the get-go, and/or numbers that you merely got tired of playing after awhile.

For me it has to be "The Rodeo Song." Once or twice it was funny, but after that it became tiresome.

Achy Breaky Heart, Just a Swinging, Sweet Home Alabama, Proud Mary. Wish I a had a 5$ bill for every time I played Achy Breaky! I would have retired 5 years earlier than what I did. Line dancers love it though. What are you going to do? Still playing it yet. usually at request now. Yup! Leroy Brown is another one!!

Brown Sugar, Honky Tonk Women...and anything else with a cowbell

Sweet Caroline.

Makes my skin crawl.

Tie a yellow ribbon....Great concept, but after 2000 times it got old

Agree with most of the above. I'd add Rocky Top.

A band I play with occasionally does Sweet Caroline. When it comes to the chorus where "Sweet Caroline..." is followed by BAH BAH BAAAA, everybody but the lead singer does that on kazoos.

Sleepwalk. It's my own fault because somewhere along the line I must have forgotten to mention my feelings about it and now it's too late.

Hanky Panky (never even liked listening to it to begin with); Dirty Water (a guy insisted I sing this song and I almost had to kick his butt to stop); It's Now Or Never; Got real tired of singing Wasted Days And Wasted Nights after about 20 yrs of it - good song though.

Steel Guitar Rag, just do not like playing it.

Here are my absolute worst "hate songs" that really aggravate me to no end, starting with the worst:

Sweet Home Alabama (or anything by Skynnyrd)
Tennessee Whiskey (Stapleton version)
Boot Scootin' Boogie (Unles the Asleep at the Wheel version)
Anything on FM country stations in the last 30 years.

Margaritaville
Brown Eyed Girl

I rewrote the words to "Achy Breaky", and singing it got us fired from the Rodeo in Greenwood Lake, NY about 25 years ago (no sense of humor there). I think most of you would like my version better ("R" rated)!

The band I was in back then got fired from Spurs in Waldorf, MD the same way! (Good riddance.) I'll wager the lyrics we used were very similar to yours.

When I first started learning the steel guitar, I could not wait to learn to play "The Steel Guitar Rag ". Later I dreaded someone requesting it. But the song I hated the most was "Cocaine". That was the most ignorant song ever.

Every damn one of them already mentioned plus Louie Louie and Surfin' Bird..

I really hate that song. For about 40 years, I refused to learn it. About 7 years ago, I finally got pressured to learn. Played for maybe a year, then belly-ached enough that the band let me off the hook.
