I want to say when I saw some posts ; I bought a Ray line back in 03 it is a great hand custom Made Guitar for the COst . I know everyone has their preference . Every Guitar is known for certain Characteristics Carter : clean Sustaining sounds EMMONS : its TWANG sound ShOBUD: I would have to say as a fact since I had 2 of them has the smoothest pedal action and MELLOW , Warm and ringing tone I have played and heard , since I 've tried several Majior known brands. RAyline PEdal Steel is very similar Bill's LDG remake of the SHOBUD S10 3 Pedal 4 knee Levers with PAD mine had real good pedal Action and warm ringing Sound the only Problem I had was a little Cabinet Drop in the CAM strings not being raised would detune, but the more I oiled it like Bill said it helped but I never got rid of the problem . I used to do machine work and heat treat steel, polishing for Piper's precision products and assembling rotary air powered BB Guns with him , my assumption was that the bushings in the cam were not really broke in during the 2 year period and so it was still a little stiff and snug causing the 4th string to detune while 5th and 6th string A and B pedal Depressed.. the best I can say would be to clean and oil real good and just play it untill it breaks in ,Mark

I've read the Rayline info that's posted on the net several times. Seems like a nice guitar that simliar to the Sho-Buds. I agree with you on the oiling part. I keep all of the moving parts on my guitars oiled often. Prevents problems. I compare it to keeping the oil changed in a vehicle. Regular service usually means prolonged life.

I might help, Bill is quiting making Rayline, he wanted me to come to Jacksonville and take up making his guitars. He is now building his last guitar a D10, so if you want one you better get in line fast. He did Shobud factory repairs for them when they were in bussiness, and yes his guitars are Shobud copies, he even used Showbud raised fret boards on them.
