No question the amp all over the place was Telonics....wow everywhere...and for good reason, they sounded sooo rich. Having said that, I swear I was really unable to hear virtually ANY difference amongst the various brands of steels on stage. Due of course to all using same brand amps and I assume the sound system EQ.
Sound was awesome all around...nice and loud the way I like it.
Smattering of vintage Emmons of course, a few Zums, and MSA and Mullen’s.
Didn’t see much in way of effects or rack mounts being used. The Telonics have built in delay and reverb...that’s about all I heard or saw.
Other than the famous LDG Shobud I don’t think I saw anyone playing Shobud.
Steve Palousek had a Rittenberry.

Mitsuo just finished building me a blue (keyless) Superb D10. He said he was bringing it to the show with him and will ship it to me (in Chicago) tomorrow. I was just curious if he set it up and was showing it, and if anybody played it. (That's totally OK with me - anything I can do to help Mitsuo sell guitars.)

Don’t forget Frank Carter and Herb Steiner on their Infinity’s...two very mentionable players no doubt!

Saw Steve Palousec playing a blue D-10 that sounded fantastic. He had to raise the back legs up quite a bit, because he’s so big and it was so compact. But being the player that he is, in a very few minutes he had that thing mastered. If that in fact was your steel Glen, you have a good one. He played along with several tracks on both necks and it was a really good sounding guitar, thru I believe a Peavey 112.

Bill Ferguson had a great sound with his Carter. Also, Jacob King playing a Zum though a piggy back Fender with a 15 inch BW had great sound.

I too was playing an Infinity guitar (happily). We had a great time in Dallas. If you weren't there, you missed a truly great show. Credits to Albert Talley and the rest of the TSGA crew for producing a very memorable weekend. Thank you!

Glenn, I didn't know you ordered a new Excel after selling your S-12 to Greg.

Enjoy it! Mitsuo also brought my new Turquiose S-12 E9/C6 to the show. Steve Sanford is shipping it to me as we speak.

Adding to the Infinity roster was Larry Toliver on his blue D10.

I noticed Buck Reid used a Nashville 112, miked. Could not have sounded better.

Frank Carter had an excellent tone with his Infinity. I didn’t notice what amp he was using. I was told it was a Stereo Steel.

Tommy Dodd, thanks for clarifying on your Infinity...the front apron has a very nice design and I couldn’t make out the label, from where I sat. My wife and I really enjoyed your performance!

I got my new Excel yesterday. It went from Japan to Dallas to Mississippi to Chicago, and was still in tune out of the box.

Nice guitar Glenn! Can't believe how light and compact the Excel guitars are.

Greg, I'm still jealous of your uber-sophisticated S12, but I CAN actually play this one. If God intended us to play an S12, he would have given us 12 fingers and one hand.

We went back and forth sending color samples with me saying "too bright...too blue...too dark.. more like this" etc., and I laughed when he finally cut me off saying "Ok Glenn, I know what you want". The color is more-or-less a "midnight blue". In room light it looks black, but sometimes you see it as blue. It's perfect and very mysterious.

Mitsuo got the coped "wrong" (or forgot to change it back after the show), but I actually like it better - on E9 RKL was supposed to raise string one 1/2, but it raises it a whole and gives a cool unison with string three. I can half-lever it really easily, so I'm leaving it! A bonus

That color is beautiful. Is it Formica, or the Aluminum panels?

Mitsuo had some fits with my color choice. It seems he had to re-oeder the aluminum panels 3 times, I assume because the color flaked off when he cut it. Steve Sanford mentioned Mitsuo said as much about my guitar when he was with him. Mitsuo said I better never sell it, because there won't be any more Turquoise ones!

There were 5 Infinity guitars played onstage: Billy Easton, Frank Carter, Larry Toliver, Tommy Dodd, and myself.

Bob Case also played an Infinity on Sunday.

A (perhaps) interesting observation. Aside from the non-pedal guys, two of the most formidable players, Jay Dee and Lloyd Green, were playing two of the oldest instruments with very basic set ups.

I saw the Friday night lineup on the big stage.
Frank Carter, Lloyd Green, JayDee and Buck Reid. All terrific in their own way, and no they did not sound the same. Humorously, JayDee ended his set with Panhandle Rag and Buck Reid opened with the same song. Very different approaches.
