Did Bruce ever build a beginner PSG? This doesn't look very Zum-ish to me at all. Ebay: Zum Pedal Steel Guitar (7347271419)

Yes, Zum did make a student model guitar. In fact, there is one on Billy Coopers web site that is consderably higher than the one on ebay. Its been on that web site for quite a long time actually.....James

I think he still does. When I visited him 2 years ago, he probably had 5 or 6 in his shop. Called a Stage One or something like that???

That is definitely a ZumSteel Stage One. They have been in production for twenty years or so. They play pretty good and sound absolutely incredible!
Bruce also made a few "economy models" early on that had painted necks and end plates, otherwise they were quite similar to the pro models.

Andre Sommer, steel guitarist in Netherlands, plays a Stage One as his "road guitar." I saw him play it last month and he, and it, sounded awesome. As expected, since it's a Zum and he's a monster.

And it weighs practically nothing, he can carry it horizontally with one hand!

Thanks guys! The longer I live, the more I learn. Following this response, it might not be a bad idea to own one as an additional axe vs. carrying a D-10 on occasions.
