I guess a band like The Fall won't get much love around here, but I was quite saddened to hear of Mark E Smith's demise yesterday. From the time I became interested in (post) punk rock around '84/'85 The Fall always played a part in my musical formation. There were times when I couldn't listen to anything else. There aren't may real characters in music around anymore and he certainly was one. Godspeed.

I'll agree. In a way he was ahead of his time.aren't may real characters in music around anymore and he certainly was one
Extremely British!
When you have guys like Tommy Robinson sounding like a louder version of Mark sans the music, you get that "wise old man" effect.

Hugely devastated here as well. The Fall have been part of my life since I first heard Hit The North, circa 1985 or so.
