I have a pedal steel in need of some long overdue maintenance. Several levers that are slow to return to pitch etc.
Anyone near Indy up for this sort of work? mid-70's Shobud...
Thanks in advance...dk

Try seeing if Andrew Wright is available.
He's not terribly experienced, but I've met him at a truck stop, and I've both worked on his guitars and guided him as he works on them (I find it better to guide than to do).
If your guitar has the pre-Super Pro guts, it's actually quite easy work on them.
If you can't find anyone local, I can see if I can swap my schedule with the other guy (every other Saturday, I run to Ft. Campbell Ky, and one of my boss's other drivers goes to the FedEx Ground hub at Indy), and I'll bring my wrenches, perhaps the 27th.
Forum member Eric Phillipsen might also either be willing or know someone who is.

I'm still not much good for anything. Lane's been very helpful in teaching me to make a few adjustments and I'd be happy to share what little I know!

Champaign Il. is 2 hours west of Indianapolis on I74. Jerry Erickson works at Corson Music and works on both all pull and push pull steels and does great job on both. Give the store a call and if he isn't there, leave a message for him. Also, I'll give him a heads up. He's the closest steel mechanic I can think of.

Jerry Fessenden is in the INDY area. There is your ticket for a good mechanic. Not diminishing any others. But, if I had the chance to use Jerry, I would.
As an extra bonus, he may have built the very guitar you are playing.

I see you live in Greenwood. I live just about right next door on the west side of Martinsville.
I've been playing pedal steel for 35+ years. I still don't think I'm a good player but I know a bit about how to fix and adjust them. My first steel was a Sho-Bud that I played for 25 years.
I'd be glad to help.
