Topic: Length and size of dowels for legs? |

| In using wooden dowels to keep the front legs from sliding down, what size dowels do you use and how long do you cut them for a standard height, standard size Carter steel guitar? (If I wasn't so lazy I could possibly figure this out myself, but the steel guitar's all the way over there and the keyboard's right here....) |

5/8" doweling will fit in the leg.
Why are the FRONT legs sliding down on a standard height guitar? You can call 972 288-9100 for tech support. |

I guess I meant the back legs? They're the ones closest to me when I'm sitting there playing, so it seems like the front to me - I don't sit in back of the TV to watch it, at least I think I don't?  I get confused about which neck is the back one and which is the front one, because one's in front of me and the other one's behind it. oh never mind, but thanks. |

I have both Front~Legs & the Rear~Leg on the P/U-end set at a perminent height. I do this by drilling a 1/16” hole directly under the clutch into the extension and inserting a 1/16” spring~pin, letting them protrude about 1/8” out of the extention. This leaves the Left~Rear leg for the Leveling~Adjustment.

The back legs on Carter Steel Guitars use a short inner tube to allow adjustment for high spots as well as low spots.
If the clutch is properly tightened your rear legs should not collapse.
If you want to insert dowling to disallow part of the adjustment, remove an inner tubes from both rears and a front front leg. Cut the dowl length to match the difference between the rear inner tube and the front inner tube. |

Sometimes others play my guitar taller than me and have to adjust the legs, I cut a tube, PVC the right diam. and length and slide it on the leg, and then put the rubber back on, when some one else readjust the leg I just loosen it up and it slide down to the proper length and never slide, down, because it has has a positive stop, works every time.
