I have a soft spot in my head for a six-string machine that has 4 pedals (what's up with that?). I've seen an ugly MOTS and pink thing that might even make me puke to play. But there's something about them....

Anyone?

Charlie-I don't but they werent too bad in the old days. Today you can play it like a lap steel with a few chord changes. Here is how a 6 string 4 pedal could be tuned up.

Pedl 3 and 4 is the E9 change.( I think it was the Bud Iassics way......al

I knew some guy in Kansas (wish I could remember his name) who did remarkably excellent things w/a Multichord.

I'd be happy to do some unremarkeable things on one, Marty. Actually, there are as many changes as I could get out of the Red Baron. Thanks for the set-up, Al.

I guess I could expect about as much cabinet drop as well; but by the time I put legs and a couple of B-benders on my lap, it'd cost as much.

I still play a Multi-Kord.---Here are the low bass tunings that Harlin Bros. set up their 4 pedal 6 string Multi-Kords for that they taught in their studio in Indp'l's. Below are the string diameters I use.

1st .016 plain E
2nd .017 " C#
3rd..022 " A
4th .030 wound E
5th .o38 " A
6th .050 " E
-------------------------------------------
Pedal Tunings starting with shortest to
longest. 1=A6th---2=D7th added 9th---
3=E---4th=C#mi.7th
------------------------------------------
A6th raises the 4th string to F#

D7added9th lower 2nd string to C raise 4th
string to F# lower 6th string to D

E Lower 2nd string to B lower 3rd string
to G# raise 5 string to B

C#mi.7th Lower 3rd string to G#
Raise 5th string to to B

These guitars came with a deep socket wrench with a screwdriver in the middle so while tuning with the screwdriver you could lock and unlock the lock nuts on the changer so it would stay in tune.

Charlie, there's a guy in College Station trying to get rid of one, if you're interested in it. It's only got the two legs that the pedals go on, and the pickup is in pretty rough shape, along with the rest of the guitar.

The dude (actually a friend of mine) told me "$200 and it's yours."
I said "I wouldn't pay $20 for that guitar, I dont want it and don't need it."

There used to be a fellow by the name of Bob Anderson here in Nashville who played a D–8 White Multi–Kord. He moved away a long time ago, but; so far as I know, he still plays (or at least has) the guitar! Another friend of mine from Pa. Tommy Vollmer used to play a S–8 w/4 or 6-P’s years ago and played all Bud Isaacs’ material very well!
