G# Gauge's Poll

Post by Ray Satterfield »

What gauge's do you use for your 3rd and 6th strings? Do you like plain or wound on the 6th string? What brand of strings do you use the most?
I use Buddy's signature S.I.T. with a plain .22 and .11 for my G#'s. I like the eveness the plain .22 has with the B string.
Thanks in advance for your input.

Ray, I use 11 and 22p and I am trying Jagwires right now. I have used mostly Franklin strings for a long long time.

Ray, if you do a search you will find this has been "beat to death" many times.

I like the Jagwires also Hook, those, and the S.I.T.'s last longer than others I've used in the past. Thanks for the reply, and BTW, great C6 work on "You Win Again".
Thanks for the info Jack, I don't have time to visit the forum too often and I don't want to beat a dead horse for sure.

A couple of months ago I switched over to "Frenchy's Steel Mill" strings and have been very happy with those. Still haven't broke one yet. Change strings about every other month. Before that I used BE-SIT's, which I liked and George L's before that. This is a good topic, as I like to see what other players are using.

012 and 22p but I'm going to try Jagwires .115 and see how that goes!

Forgot to mention gauges on 3 & 6. 3rd string,G# - I use the .011 & 6th string,G# - I like the .020P. I prefer the 11.5 on #3 but I didn't see where the steel mill strings carried them.

If you only Raise #6, then .020p is fine, but; if you also Lower #6, then .022p is better. For the 3rd.-str. I use .011p. I've used John Pearse Strings exclusively for many years!
