I'm trying to determine the power capacity (in hours/minutes) of a cordless Pedaltrain Volto unit (a rechargeable power supply) on my pedalboard.
If I turn on all the fx boxes and walk away, will this tell me anything or do the pedals need to be processing signal to get a real world test of the duration of the power pack charge?
The board consists of dirt pedals, eq, delay and modulation, a mix of digital and analog. |

I might be misunderstanding, but you can actually just calculate it all directly.
Every pedal should (normally) publish the mA it uses/requires. And the Volto for sure publishes the peak mA it can supply. |

I think I got my answer elsewhere but let me rephrase.
You and me side by side, identical pedalboards with everything turned on. You hold your guitar and do nothing. I play power chords for 30 minutes. Is my Volto more drained than yours?
I have been told that no, on is on and it doesn't matter if they are being driven or not. |

That is correct, as effect units don't have to drive heavy loads - like power amps do. There are effect units that will draw a few percent more power when driven hard, but that's all - won't make a difference in practice. |
