I have the great good fortune to be at a hotel on Kauai right now. I heard a great, swinging version of Hawaiian War Chant on the piped-in music last night. I wonder if it was Jerry Byrd but so far my googling and youtube searching hasn't found it.
It was in a very peppy swing feel, sounded like there were at least 2 tracks of steel - one playing the melody and one playing harmonics behind it - and there were at least two percussion solos, although one of them might have been surf-style muted 6th string on electric guitar.
Does this description ring a bell with anyone?
I recorded most of it (although I missed the beginning) on my iphone, and if I can figure out how/where to do it I will post it and I will put a link here.
Thanks! |

I'd heard the title of this tune before but never really knew what it was...listened to it the other week and realized...I know this one!! Wife is a Disneyland fanatic (with all my expensive vices I suppose she deserves at least one)....

But come on, Sherman Bros, where's the steel guitar? |
