Ray, hello, I have visited Mitsuo several times in Tokyo (Tachikowa City) and is a great person. His english isn't fluid, but, if he still works at Fuzzy, his assistant's name is Wataru and speaks good english.

I own a 2005 SD-10 E9 Excel 3+5 guitar, bought used. It was custom built by Mitsuo Fujii in Tokyo for a very well known female English steelie. As a guitar, it's up there with the best- light weight, mechanically very smooth, a fine piece of high- precision engineering and has incredibly stable tuning. It has Gotoh tuning keys, is a 'standard' type ( non-keyless), has an inherently bright sound but I fitted it with a G L's 10-1 for a more 'vintage' sound. It sounds really good and is up there with many other steels I've heard and played. It's a keeper and is easy to haul around to gigs. These guitars don't appear to be well- known, I 'd say there are no more than a half- dozen in this country- and their modern line of Superb keyless instruments have had very good reviews on the US and UK forums. They are worthy of investigation as they are of very high quality indeed. Mitsuo Fujii is a mechanical engineer and a fine steelie and I have found him easy to communicate with.

I was temporary cuss-toadian of that blue "Jerry Byrd" D-8 that's drifted around the forum for a while, serial number FIVE, but 8 strings just lacks... a few trills & thrills for me. It sounded just like what it was - pedal steel template without the guts. The concept's fine, I now have a non-pedal Pedalmaster* D-10 which also sounds exactly like what it is, thrills, chills, spills....

Tried out these guitars at the Dallas show last year, amazingly well engineered and great sound. If I had money I would not hesitate to buy one as a great light weight second guitar. They were pretty reasonably priced.
