Saw someone mention these picks in another post. I ordered some, but was confused and got the "finger-tone" type that are more for guitar finger-picking. I didn't like them at all for steel. Went to their Web site and checked out all the different styles. I ended up ordering a plastic thumb pick with metal rings and a couple of their "RESO" finger picks with the split rings. I love them! The split design makes them feel much more secure and comfortable on my fingers, and they are angled slightly for a more direct "attack" on the strings. The thumb pick feels great, too. The also sent a couple of little plastic pick cases, free.

They are not cheap, $2.50 each for the finger picks and $4 for the thumb picks, but for me they are worth it.

They have lots of varieties; check them out at: http://www.guptillmusic.com/propik/propikintro.html
Cheers,

And I thought Herco thumb picks were expensive at a dollar each.

I have been using Guptill finger picks now for about five years and love them. I use the brass picks. they are light, pliable and have a softer tone when you pick the strings.

Watch out for Guptil picks... Dave Guptil is a (dread) BANJO PLAYER and a pretty darn good one at that. He and I used to work in the same music store in Garden Grove, Ca. (Moody Music} He's a stand up guy and very knowlegable in all things music! I tried a set of his picks however and to me they just didn't cut it for pedal steel. They were OK for guitar but I still prefer my old Nationals....JH in va.
