Peter,
I have several favorites. For all around playability, reliability, great sound and low maintenence... the '80 Zum 8+8 is very tough to beat. For coolness and "that" E9th sound... the '67 Emmons cut-tail (serial number is reported to be 8 earlier than "The Blade"). For C-6th sound...the '69 Sho-Bud Professional, hands down. For best immitation of a Ferarri... The Millenium 2.
David, very funny!

TC, what is that 3 tone MSA? I've never seen one quite like that. |

Jerry,
The three tone MSA is an original push/pull MSA S-10. Probably from the '60's. Just like you'd expect from an MSA, it plays like butter. Maybe someone on the forum might know more about these than I do?

Is your wife blind, or just not paying attention? Or maybe you don't have a wife at all... Nice Collection, I only have two and they don't match, but they are the same color, 2003 Zum, 1977 MSA, both burgandy red. Larry Jamieson |

You own EIGHT STEELS??!! Wow man! And I was feeling guilty because I had three. They all look great, and I'll bet they sound even better! Do they have their own room, and maybe a radio going, so they won't start whining and annoy the neighbors?
Seriously, you have a great set-up and I'm impressed.
Your Pal,

TC-
You're a sick man. I hope a ShoBud is somewhere in my future - I thought it could be fun to try a S10 C6 on an old professional. Things like paying off my credit card and buying a house will probably come first. |

T.C., Remember this old Sho-Bud? I did a gig with Jimmy Seabourne a few months back and I happened to have my digital camera with me. I also took some pics of the case, or should I say cases. She still sounds great! BTW, nice collection of steels!

Hi Bob,
The old Pro II photo brings back memories of my first good steel, which was a Pro II. My memory is not serving me very well right now. Is that my old guitar?

T.C., Jerry Erickson told me that Jimmy Seabourne had your old Sho-Bud. In my last post I had mistaken Jimmy's last name for Seymour, which I have corrected. Here is a picture of the case. It was the first time I had seen someone put the steel in one case and the pedal bar and legs in another. Maybe this pic will jar your memory.

Yup, I had those two cases built by Woody Woodall at Hooper Trunk in Nashville in '75 or '76. I remember one time they were riding to a gig in the back of a pick-up truck and the pedal bar/leg/pedal rods case bounced out and landed in a ditch. I think we went back and found it just in time to get it to the gig, set up the steel and play.
Thanks Bob, good to know that my first good steel is still getting played. Muttonhead has an amazing memory. I gotta start hanging around him more. Maybe some of that genius will rub off.
