While talking with Jerry Fessenden today, he told me that he has started work Buddy's guitar. If he can squeeze it all in, this monster will have 10&14!
He also told me of the latest work that machinist and steel player Sam Gibson has done. In order to try to fit all the pedals and levers, he has made some special cross shafts and pullers for Buddy's new guitar.
Sam has also made a special 12 string bar for Gary Adams with some screw holes to mount a special bracket. Since Gary's auto wreck, he has had only limited use of his left hand.
Congrats to both Jerry and Sam! |

One of the many things I like about Jerry is his fearlessness in trying things out when someone wants something out of the ordinary... [This message was edited by John Macy on 22 May 2005 at 06:51 PM.] |

Buddy's Hilt that was stolen had 10&14. My Dekley that was the precursor to the guitar that Larry Hilt built for Buddy had 10&13. Here's a link to Buddy's set up: http://www.buddycage.net/tech/copedant/index.htm
I finally removed my RKV as in order to have room underneath to use it, the guitar sat too high.

Would someone PLEEZE get Jerry a camera (digital, whatever) to take pictures of these creations in his shop?
John, you ARE right, JF is up for just about anything.

10 & 14 to me makes a good case for Bill Rudolph's cross over! With 5 & 5 we have the same as 10 & 10!!! with less confusion!!! [This message was edited by Doug Seymour on 26 May 2005 at 04:40 PM.] |

Actually, the crossover would not work--Buddy has 6 pedals and 9 knees working on the E9...

I'm guessing there's been no word on the stolen guitar? How on earth do you hide something that's so unique for this long? |

I'm sure whoever stole it soon discovered it is impossible to sell on the street. How many people out there on the street play pedal steel? So they probably dumped it to some guitar player for peanuts, and they have it gathering dust in there practice room without a clue how to play it. Or worse, they tossed it in a dumpster when they couldn't sell it. |

Buddy did a round of lessons this past week and I had him stop by. We probably spent more time talking about copedants than anything.....
Hopefully, my next psg is going to be a SD-12 ext. E9 with a 5x8 "Crawford" LK. Most important, I would like Jerry to build it. (Seeing those pics of Drew's new Fessy put the nail in that coffin)
I believe Buddy is playing out in Co. this weekend with the David Nelson Band, so I wish him the best....

I seem to remember seeing Buddy with the Riders one time and he had 3 legs. That's why he needs all them pedals and knee levers. Of course, I was seeing all kinds of strange things back then.
