Lloyd & JayDee - Hickory Wind

Post by Dan Robinson »

Lloyd Green and JayDee Maness playing Hickry Wind in this Music City Roots video.

I'm fascinated by the bar slants (among other things). Have toyed with that, but never made sense of the technique. They continue to impress, delight and amaze me.

Actually three amazing steel players on stage together. That's Al Perkins on guitar.

If you would like to see the whole show, click here:

Then go to 1:11 to see the interview, or 1:55 to hear them play instrumental versions of many of the songs from the album. Absolutely amazing!
Pedal steel, lap steel, resonator, blues harp - why suck at just one instrument when you can do so on many?

Several months ago John Macy told me (in a whisper) that he was going to make this happen.

I've been inspired by Lloyd Green and JayDee Maness ever since the original Byrds' album landed on my turntable.

Anticipation? Yup, off the charts.

Mr. Schuch, thanks for the link to the whole show!

Is it just me or does LLoyd's guitar keep sounding better each time I hear it?
