The essentials of steel guitar: learn how to create sound effects!

I use my iPhone to record ideas for arrangements, performance, etc. Here is a look at a fresh arrangement on Monk's 'Little Rootie Tootie'. This is still a work in progress, obviously (haven't even showed it to the band yet). Right after I first conceived of the idea, I heard a train off in the distance and my interpretation of the whistle was almost dead on pitch-wise.

A little grist to the mill.....

Is it a train whistle or is it the blues? Or both?

That was cool, Mike! What's your steel (and what pick-up)?

Thanks,

Mark

Mike, great train sound. When you hear that sound it is time to clear the tracks.
