I have a standard 10-string E9 guitar and I've been playing my pedal steel with the legs raised like a console steel, and tuning my 2 E strings down (as if I were holding down the E lever). I don't use the pedal/levers at all when I play this way.

I know, I know, I should just buy a standard 6 or 8 string C6 console steel, and maybe I will some day. But for now, I'm really used to playing this way and I like the way it sounds for western swing.

Is there an official name for this tuning? Or am I *close* to an official tuning?

Thanks,
-Andy

B6

At least - B6 on 5 adjacent strings ( 4-8 ). If you add the 1st and 10th strings you have a 7 string B6.
