My guess would be Sho-Bud would be at least the first real popular model. They were permanent set up all rod -pull and release. The rods did not go clear across the guitar and have moveable bellcranks like we know today. They were basically a single raise/lower system. It was common to have several tuning adjustments under the guitar to accomplish double raise. They had their faults, but they sure sounded good. I played one like that for 5 years. Ah, the days of split single coil pickups and tube amps.
