Lion Kobayashi-great player-familiar with him ?

Post by Larry Lenhart »

I am sure to many of you this is old hat, but I just discovered him today on youtube playing Hilo March:

Anybody add more information about him ? Looks like he had a sucessful school of music in Japan ? IMHO, this is great playing. I apologize up front if this information is a repeat.

I love his video of Beyond the Reef where he is playing a pedal steel in front of a full symphony orchestra. He is a gifted player.

:D Yes, I know him well. He used to come to all the HSGA Conventions in Joliet IL. And all the HSGA Conventions in Hawaii. He has perfect pitch and can name the note as soon as he hears it. Wonderful steel player and perhaps a better piano player.

I've seen him play in Maui at the HSGA vents...last time I saw him he was using a double neck Excel with the pedals detached! I might have seen him in Waikiki too in the past.Very accomplished player!
