Steeler Don Matthews, Anybody know where he is?
I was playing bass in a three piece C&W band in a two bar town north of Ukiah, California. Bass, Drums & Guitar.
One night our guitar player was a no show and Don and Big Jim came in to save our beens. Played with us a couple of nights. Their band was not working that night.
This was about 1974 and I'd never played with a steel before that.
Stood behind Don on his double neck sunburst Fender and could not believe what was coming out of that instrument. Can't now remember if it was a D-8 or D10.
Last I heard years ago he had moved to Reno.
It was that night I started thinking I want to play one of those just like him.
Would love to thank him. _________________ Inlaid Star Guitar 2006 by Mark Giles. SD-10 4+5 in E9th; http://luthiersupply.com/instrument-gallery.html
