Thank you John. Anything that gets the C pedal going for me is a real bonus.
Your tabs are a real boon to beginner steel players like me - much to enjoy and learn from.

John Russell's Tabs

Post by Andy DePaule »

At this point in time I have received about 10 different tabs from John.
All are very professional and very detailed.
I've only been able to find the time to work through three to date, others I've just dabbled here and there to get a feeling for the style and amount of work they will require, but now have enough to keep me going for a long long time.

The amount of work he has put into these is amazing and more so because he is usually tabbing out Dave Hartley versions of tunes we all like.

From the first time I heard Dave play and wondered if I should just put my picks and bar away and give up.
Wish I had his hands, knees, feet and ear as well as his incredible speed and talent.

These are quite advanced and need a lot of skill to play... More skill than I have so it's one heck of a workout for me.
The best part is it makes me more proficient in good basic steeling.

I just wish he'd allow us to reward him in some way for his generosity.
Usually tab like this would be in a book costing $25.00 or more, but he gives it freely to us all.
What a great guy!

John thanks for the gospel tab Take My Hand Precious Lord as it is such a beautiful song and you just can't beat gospel music especially the way John Russell tabs them and with that said back to practicing I go. That's what doctors and lawyers always say.
