Gary, check out the casinos in the Joplin area. there are several bands using steel guitar in them. Scotty Henderson plays with The Swinging West band and I play with the Bobby D band. We play the casinos quite regularly and love to talk steel guitar. Also Johnny Rose is a great musician that plays lots of instruments including steel guitar I believe he lives right in Joplin. Jake Hooker is going to be at Bordertown on May 20th I am sure he will have a great player with him. I will be playing Downstream tonight from 8 to 12. come by and visit if you get the chance. Also the Ozark Steel Guitar association is in Branson ans has bi-monthly jams and 2 shows every year. You live in a great area for steel guitar, so you should not have any trouble finding some help

Jack,
Thanks for the reply. Never thought about the casinos. Good tip. Not sure I'll be able to get out there tonight but I'll watch when and where your band is appearing and will catch up to you soon.
I am very familiar with Jake Hooker. I interviewed him on my radio show last year when they played Bordertown. (I go by Gary St. James on KBTN 99.7 here in Joplin)
Rick Price is Jake's steel player and he is one of the best. I'll be at their appearance on the 20th. Are you planning to go? If so, maybe we can talk then.
I'm a Noob to the pedal steel and just needing tips from players on how best to approach this.
Talk to you soon,
Gary
