Hi everybody. This is my first post--I love this site! Although I have been playing steel on and off for about six years, I have lots to learn and a lot of questions.

Here is my first: Is there an in depth method out there specifically for E9/B6 universal? My guitar is a Sho Bud 12 universal model, circa 1982-83. In addition, how much of C6 is the same as the universal in B6 mode? (I know its a half step lower). Would standard C6 tablature throw me off?

I'm making good progress on the E9 side of things but I have next to no knowledge of the B6 side. Thanks for any help or suggestions!

Al, Jeff Newman put togeather some instruction courses for U12, and much of the C6 Tab can be "adapted" pretty easily to B6 in my opinion, Jim

Scott--Please let me know when your book gets into print. Sounds good. Also, where will you sell it. Checked out your website, but saw no instructional stuff. Loved the MP3!

Jim--What specifically does one have to do to adapt the C6 tab? Sorry of this seems an ignorant question, but I have only played the universal and nothing else, so the standard C6 neck is something I am totally unfamiliar with.

Thanks guys for the info!

Al,
I suggest you take a look at the stuff on my website -- especially the derivation of the universal tuning from C6. Just click on the link below.

I have been reading C6 tab for the universal for 30 years and the only modification required is to recognize that your actual chord/key is 1/2 step lower than for C6.

Hope the website info helps. Drop me an EMail if you want to discuss in more detail.

Good luck.

Thanks to everyone. This is some great site here--great people, sharing and giving. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the help, courtesy and style. I had felt rather intimidated in the presence of such masters, but you have made me feel welcome. Thank you all!
