I have an old National?Dobro Metal body Lap steel. Some of it is enamal (Red) and some of it a kind of Brown Crinkle paint. Is this kind of refinish job do-able? I am trying to restore this for a close friend. I could clean it up and get it prepped.

Not really "krinkled" but it does look good. I have used a similar paint called Hammerite and it's easy.

Then navigate to Radio Parts and Resoration/Cabinet Restoration. There are a couple of wrinkle paints including one make brown.

Buck. I would use the RustoleumCrinkle paint, once its on it never comes off. Had it on my work truck for 10yrs and never chip.

That Eastwood company link is the Hammerite paint I mentioned. It works well, too. Very tough stuff.
