The D'Addario poll got me thinking. Buddy's SIT set has .017 for the first string D. Seems a bit heavy to me. What do you use? _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video

I still use a G on the 1st string. I use George L's and it is a .012.
.017 is what Mr Franklin told me to use if I used a D on the 1st string. |

0.015" - string 2 on a B6 uni raising to D# for E9 purposes. Agreed .017 seems a bit heavy. _________________ Make sleeping dogs tell the truth!

Zero seventeen for the s.1 D string, raised to Eb with a LKV lever. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

I use a 13 on the G (first string). Both of my pedal steels are 23" scale. _________________ RICK ABBOTT

Not since October 1977, b0b. I had a conversation Paul Franklin Jr. at the DJ Convention in Nashville that year wherein he explained how necessary it was, and it totally made sense to me, melodically. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

.015 (D) on my '69 "Original" Emmons and .016 (D) on my LeGrande. Like Herb, I raise the 1st string a half-tone w/ an additional, dedicated C6 lever. It's a LKR though, not a verticle.
