It's an early Maverick of the raised-neck variety... with an aftermarket finish job and decal.
[This message was edited by Rick McDuffie on 27 January 2005 at 04:28 PM.]

This kinda proves my point about the old "Maverick" People still want one and look at the starting bid! Ed Naylor Steel Guitar Works.

this is the third time this SB is up on ebay i believe
the last sale did'nt go through cause the buyer bein' from Denmark declined because of shipping costs
i wrote the seller informing him that it was a Mav' and not a Professional
he replied that he bought it as it is and does'nt know the diff between the two.

Yep ! Buyer Beware !

I sent the seller the following mesage:

Hi This is obviously a Shobud Maverick dressed up to look like a Professional. I use to have one. I know what I am talking about. This is false advertising These guitars are selling around $400 Only a sucker would pay double the price for something. Of course there is one born every minute. Good luck Brian

It's still there at 10:30 AM EST Jan 28.
So what you guys are sayin' is that somebody put a "Professional" logo on a Maverick?
Thanks for being vigilant fellas. Maybe if I put a Cadillac medallion on my Cavalier I can double it's resale price too.

Yeah, it's an early Maverick. I had one just like it, except for the fancy in-lays. Mine also had a custom two-tone lacquer finish and a 2nd knee lever to raise the Es. Also I had replaced the original key head that had plastic keys and no nut rollers with a pro style key head with grovers. Because of all that I sold it for more than the going rate for the vinyl covered ashtray keyhead models. But I told the buyer (a great guitarist I play with) all about it and it's limitations. He just wanted it for his collection at home and to fool around with. He never intends to play steel in public. He really likes the look of it in his music room.

For this thing on Ebay, I think it would be okay to add the value of the custom lacquer and inlays to the typical cost of a raised neck Maverick. But the "Professional" sticker is a lie, and should be removed. The fact that this seller made an ignorant mistake when he bought it is not a good excuse to pass the mistake off on the next unsuspecting buyer.

I'll say this,it is well done cosmetically.... If I could get it for cheap,I might upgrade it with a real changer and 4 knees and a few more pedals... but again,,If I had that work done,I could BUY a a Pro I or maybe even a LDG for the same or LESS money!! bob

Other than it being an obvious fraud, is the $100.00 shipping.
Gues he is going to add in some bricks to balance it out.
