Been playing PSG for a whole four months now, and am generally able to coax out of it the sounds I want. But I was wondering about the position of the volume pedal. I have found it most comfortable to position it to the right of the right front leg, and slightly forward (almost like a car accelerator pedal). Maybe because of these long legs, that just seems to suit me, and I have seen photos of players doing something similar.

I know there are brackets available to place the pedal in a fixed position almost directly below the right knee levers, and thereabouts is clearly the most common placement for the pedal.

Placing the pedal outside the footprint of the instrument feels most comfortable, and does not appear to affect how I work the knee levers. But before I develop too many bad habits, I thought I would throw this topic out there. Is it a matter of finding what works for you, or is there some reason that I should really try to get used to a more traditional position for this pedal?

If it has no effect on hitting the RK* knees, especially RKL it should be fine.
But it makes me think you might be sitting in a strange position.
Most of us put our navels right behind the 15th fret, which makes for a good right hand position. If you're comfortable with that leg angle, I'm betting your navel is more around the 10th
